Solsbury Hill

Peter Gabriel was here in Toronto this past week at the Molson Amphitheatre - the day after the Summer Solstice - a great show!

I have just come back from the UK where I didn't actually get to visit Solsbury Hill wherever that is (!), but did get down to Glastonbury for the day. I attended the summer school for the MA I am taking in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology at the University of Wales. The outing on one of the days was to go down to Glastonbury to visit the Chalice Well, climb the Tor and have a tour of the Abbey from Jon Cannon. More than 30 people from all around the world attended the summer school and it was a great opportunity to meet, learn and exchange ideas. Thanks to Nick Campion, Bernadette Brady and Darrelyn Gunzburg for providing such a wonderful opportunity.

That is by way of introduction to what I have been doing in the past month but what is much more important is what CAAE students have been doing during that same time. The year end for study is upon us and has centred around the exam date of June 4th and the writing of  exams. This year I was honoured to be involved in teaching 5 different levels of astrological studies. Each group had an energy of its own and I would love to take a minute to tell you about them.

Firstly, the Introductory class - Laura, Cate and Anil - we were late starting off (only beginning our classes in March) but through hard work and effort, decided not to be daunted by the thought of the Level 1 exam and wrote it in June!

The Intermediate class was a gift. We started off last September and after beaming in some extra people along the way, this class developed into a powerhouse of determination. As Gabriele so correctly mentioned, we spent a total of 22 evenings together, learnt a lot, laughed a lot and developed a lasting friendship. Congratulations to Gabriele, Shannon, Cecile, Iulia and Ivana.

The Advanced class year is always a landmark - by the end of the year students have experienced all the different techniques for trending and, more importantly, developed their own individual style. Well done, Sally, Laural and Michelle, you truly have become excellent astrologers.

Then the specialty classes - the Mathematics of Astrology course with Susan 2 and Shannon pouring over Tables of Houses and scientific calculators in a crash course in late May and the Chart Rectification course with the experts, Susan 1, Susan 2, Sally 1, Sally 2 and Laural!

Thank you all so much for your contributions. While you are now finished for the year, I still have 2 more assignments for the MA due over the summer, but this is done in order to bring more depth to what I offer as a teacher for CAAE classes coming up in the fall. In the meantime, enjoy your summer!
